There are many unwanted visitors during the summer—such as mosquitos, and other pests—that can ruin all the fun if you’re not prepared. Practicing safe ways to ward off these pesky creatures can be very effective for yourself and your family, and doTERRA has just what you need.
Essential Oils as a Natural Insect Repellent
There are many plants that contain vapors that act as barrier protection from potential threats in their environment, such as insects. These plants also provide us with a unique and natural gift of defending ourselves in the same way. Essential oils that are particularly helpful include Citronella, Peppermint, Cedarwood, and Lemongrass.
You can protect yourself, your home, and your garden with the bug repellent properties of Peppermint, Lemongrass, Rosemary, or Thyme oil. Diffusing these oils or putting a few drops directly on your skin can go a long way in protecting you from the creepy crawlies. You can also add it directly to mulch or soil as you garden.
TIPS FOR KEEPING PESTS AWAY:
No matter where you are, the creepy crawlies are there too. Avoid them with help from these effective essential oil products:
Peppermint: Not only does Peppermint assist with the heat, but it also repels bugs naturally. Wear it on your skin or in diffuser jewelry.
Lemongrass: Rub into your skin right before hitting the trail to naturally repel insects.
Purify: Bug bites happen. If you can’t keep all the pests away, apply Purify directly to their bites to soothe irritation. Purify also helps combat environmental threats.
Terrashield: Apply TerraShield Repellent Blend Spray to the skin before spending time outdoors. Diffuse Terrashield indoors and outdoors for a natural repellent. Boost with Lemon Eucalyptus and Citronella
Cedarwood: Apply to cotton ball and place in closet to deter moths. Apply to skin before heading outside.
Many others like Eucalyptus, Arborvitae, and Lavender can act as anti-bug oils as well.

Ingredients:
2 teaspoons doTERRA Fractionated Coconut Oil (FCO)
10 drops Lavender essential oil
10 drops Peppermint essential oil
OR
15–20 drops Purify essential oil
Instructions:
Add FCO to empty 10 mL roller bottle.
Add the essential oils of your choice.
Secure the lid to your roller bottle and shake until ingredients combine.
Apply as needed.
