The Ylang Ylang flower has been used for centuries in perfumes, religious ceremonies, aromatherapy, and wedding events, and the essential oil produced from this blossom is just as versatile. The many uses and benefits of Ylang Ylang oil can be obtained when used aromatically, topically, and internally. When ingested, Ylang Ylang essential oil has the powerful ability to provide antioxidant support, which makes it a cherished oil for bodily health.* Ylang Ylang is frequently used for its external benefits and can promote the appearance of healthy skin and hair. The popular fragrance of Ylang Ylang oil is often used in perfumes and aromatherapy treatments due to its rich scent and its calming and lifting effect on the mood.

Chemistry of Ylang Ylang - Main Chemical Components: germacrene, caryophyllene
Two of the main chemical constituents of Ylang Ylang essential oil are caryophyllene and germacrene. These two chemical components are part of the sesquiterpenes group. Ylang Ylang’s unique chemistry and scent promote soothing feelings when used aromatically.

Uses:
  • Combine a few drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil with Epsom salts and mix with running bathwater for a relaxing soak. 
  • Use Ylang Ylang oil in a steam facial to refresh the skin. 
  • Apply Ylang Ylang essential oil to the wrists for a sweet, floral “pure”-fume. 
  • Mix Ylang Ylang oil with a carrier oil for a deep hair conditioner. 

Directions for Use:
  • Aromatic use: Place three to four drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil in the diffuser of your choice.
  • Internal Use: Dilute one drop of Ylang Ylang oil in four fluid ounces of liquid.
  • Topical use: Apply one to two drops of Ylang Ylang essential oil to the desired area. Dilute with a carrier oil to minimize any skin sensitivity.
Ylang Ylang oil blends with a diverse range of oils to benefit both mind and body. For an ideal essential oil blend, combine Ylang Ylang oil with Bergamot, Geranium, Grapefruit, Lemon, Marjoram, Sandalwood, or Vetiver essential oils for diffusion.
